Bulgaria’s Police syndicates announced on Sunday that they are to launch a protest in front of the Alexander Nevsky cathedral downtown Sofia on July 5 this year. They warned the Ministry of Interior that their protests may be held on a daily basis during the country’s rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2018 if an agreement about the salaries of the Policemen is not reached by the end of 2017. The Trade Union Federation of the Employees in the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior added that the protests will start on July 5 and will continue on all holidays of the Interior Ministry if they fail to reach an agreement with the Minister of Interior about the wage increase in the sector. The Police syndicate announced that it was ready to start negotiations with the Ministry of Interior about the percentage of the wage increase and whether all employees at the Ministry of Interior should receive equal pay rise or not. However, from now on talks will be held only in the presence of the Bulgarian Minister of Interior Valentin Radev, the Trade Union Federation of the Employees in the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior further announced.
