MPs adopt government's report on national security

With 104 votes in favor and 96 against Bulgarian MPs have adopted the government's report on the state of national security for 2016.

The BSP and DPS parties have opposed the document. The biggest debates were triggered by the fact the report reads Russia's actions were a source of regional instability and threatened the goal of a united and peaceful Europe.

The Bulgarian Socialist Party said the threat of terrorism was neglected by the report, as well as the pan-European and border security. DPS said Bulgaria should have taken a firm stance that the Balkans must become part of the European Union and NATO.
