In a letter to the Ministry of Environment and Water, US company Park Place Energy has declared its willingness to continue its exploration for oil and gas in the Vranino Field near the city of Dobrich.

The company has called for receiving an environement impact assessment. It was because of the lack of such assessment that the Bulgarian court decided to freeze exploration works.

Park Place Energy signed a contract for exploration of oil and gas with the Bulgarian Ministry of Energy in 2014. The Vranino Field covers the territory of 28 settlements in the municipalities of Kavarna, Balchik, Shabla and General Toshevo. It also includes three Natura 2000 protected areas - Kraimorska Dobrudzha, Kaliakra and Bilo
