Only 7 percent of Bulgarians use e-government services

Bulgaria has almost 4.6 million mobile internet users and around 1.5 million users of fixed internet, Atanas Temelkov, chairman of the State e-Government Agency (S.E.G.A) said, addressing the participants in the 19th annual conference on e-government.

The share of active users of services via the internet does not exceed 7 percent, and over 80 percent of Bulgarians over 18 still prefer over the counter services. All this indicates that whatever systems we may create or whatever new technologies we may introduce, unless we work with the public and with the administration, any serious achievements in e-government would be a difficult thing, Temelkov said.
