At the Quadrilateral Meeting of the High-Level Cooperation Council in Bucharest, the Prime Ministers of Bulgaria Boyko Borissov, of Romania Viorica Dancila, of Greece Alexis Tsipras, and the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic discussed transport links, and digital and energy connectivity projects in the Balkans.

Boyko Borissov commented that the countries taking part in the Council “want ports and infrastructure”, not political declarations and once again called for understanding and dialogue in the region.

Alexis Tsipras on his part pointed out that the Balkans can avail themselves of development opportunities according to their own interests, and not just according to the agenda of third countries. The Greek Prime Minister and the Prime Minister of Romania Viorica Dancila commended the results of the first half of Bulgaria’s Presidency of the Council of the EU and reaffirmed their support for the European integration of the countries of the region.

The President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic expressed appreciation of the commitment to the Western Balkans and more specifically to Serbia.

The participants in the Council agreed to seek financing from China for the common infrastructure projects. To this end, at the meeting of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe with China, scheduled for the beginning of July in Sofia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Romania and Greece will present a joint financing project.
