As of today, until 21 October 2018, enhanced lorry and bus inspections will be carried out on the territories of all countries members of the European Traffic Police Network, TISPOL, including Bulgaria.
The aim of the inspections is to draw the attention of drivers to the fact that in the event of severe road accidents involving lorries, the consequences and the number of deaths and injuries is considerably higher than in any other kind of road accidents. The principal causes of severe road accidents involving lorries and buses are failure to observe prescribed rest periods by drivers, speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, transportation of unsecured loads, and overloading of vehicles.
