Bulgaria to receive 2.2 million euro in aid from the EU Solidarity Fund for damages after the 2017 flooding

Four EU member countries, affected by natural disasters in 2017 – Greece, Poland, Lithuania and Bulgaria – will soon be receiving a total of 34 million euro in aid from the EU Solidarity Fund, after the Parliament and the Council approved the European Commission proposal, the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria has announced.

The sum of 34 million euro will be distributed as followed: 2.5 million euro for the Greek island of Kos after the July 2017 earthquake, 12.2 million euro for Poland after the storms and torrential rain in August 2017, almost 17 million euro for Lithuania, again in connection with the storms and rain in 2017, and 2.2 million euro for Bulgaria in connection with the storms and heavy rain in October 2017.
