Representatives of Bulgarian haulier organizations held a working meeting with representatives of the government and parliament in connection with an international protest hauliers are organizing in Brussels on 10 January.
Their protest is over texts from Mobility Package 1, which they say are damaging to the interests of Bulgaria and the sector. Protectionist interests are introduced which, after the transport sector, will have a domino effect in other sectors of the European economy, they say. The hauliers are hoping to drum up a blocking majority in European Parliament, along with another 12 countries of Eastern and Southeastern Europe.
Minister of Transport Rosen Zhelyazkov said that the state firmly supports Bulgarian hauliers, and that if the demands of the transport sector are not met, the Mobility Package 1 will be blocked.
