Number of people applying for Bulgarian citizenship increases

The number of people applying for Bulgarian citizenship has been constantly increasing in the past 15 years, which is associated with Bulgaria’s membership in the European Union and NATO and the visa-free travel to many countries, this country’s Vice-President Iliana Yotova said.  In the recent years the Commission on Bulgarian Citizenship and Bulgarians Abroad with the Bulgarian Vice-President has considered nearly 22,000 applications. Most applications were filed by people with Bulgarian roots, Vice-President Yotova specified.
