Bulgaria aiming at balanced gas market

Regardless of optimism we gain from Black Sea gas and oil exploration, we are far from industrial gas production, Chairman of the Bulgarian Commission for Water and Energy Regulation, Ivan Ivanov said. According to the regulator, a major disadvantage of the Bulgarian market was that gas consumption in Bulgaria was relatively low and because of monopoly, there was no security. This year Bulgaria started steps that should lead to market liberalization. The first measures to balance gas transmission networks, which is a requirement by the EU directives, are expected to be adopted by the Commission in the early days of May, Mr. Ivanov said.
