Employers want foreign investors to have access to Bulgarian citizenship

Employers in Bulgaria want the options for applying for Bulgarian citizenship to remain open to foreign investors.

This view was expressed in a letter by the Association of the Organizations of Bulgarian Employers (AOBE) to Deputy Prime Minister Mariyana Nikolova and Minister of Justice Danail Kirilov.

The employers say the changes proposed for shortening the deadline for the coordination procedures and additional verification of circumstances when applying for Bulgarian citizenship are a step in a positive direction. They also support the measures for current and ex-post controls of investments so as to avoid malfeasance. But they express fears of a negative economic and financial effect if the access of foreign investors to Bulgarian citizenship is curtailed.
