The women in Sofia aged between 31 and 45 who work from home are subjected to highest stress, a survey of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences about the levels of stress among the Bulgarians during the state of emergency amidst the COVID-19 epidemic shows. 60% of the respondents say they are at risk of becoming infected with coronavirus. Half of the respondents admit that they are very worried. The majority of the respondents see a greater threat in the economic situation after the coronavirus crisis than in the epidemic itself.

In general, women are more worried than men, but the levels of optimism among them are higher, the survey shows. People working from home are more pessimistic about the outcome of the crisis. Esoteric and superstitious thinking are among the strategies used to deal with stress.
