This is the conclusion of NSSI experts, published in the first for the year Electronic Social Security Bulletin. Eurostat forecasts show that the population in Bulgaria will be declining and at the same time its age structure will continue to deteriorate.

Two years ago, there were 74 retirees per 100 socially insured persons, and it is estimated that in 2060, there will be 89 retirees per 100 employees.

Over the next 40 years, it is projected that as a result of aging, the number of employees will decline by nearly 38%. The share of people in retirement age will increase from 21% to 31% by 2070.
