During the new programming period the urban development projects financed by the EU under the Operational Programme “Regions in Growth” will be subject to broader public debate.

“This will enable us to obtain more constructive solutions and broader support,” said Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Denitsa Nikolova. “Urban development is a priority because a growing portion of the population - 70% - is concentrated in towns. The effective introduction of the smart city concept has the potential of solving pressing problems in the environment, economy, transport and infrastructure,” Deputy Minister Nikolova said.
