ECB's Fabio Panetta: Bulgaria might join ERM-2 by the end of the year

Photo: Archive

Bulgaria and Croatia can join the Eurozone's "waiting room" by the end of this year. The opinion is of Fabio Panetta - a member of the board of the European Central Bank, expressed in an interview with the French newspaper Le Monde. According to him, "the first available window for the two countries to join the Eurozone" is in 2023.
I recall that the goal of Sofia and Zagreb is to receive a positive response to join ERM II in July. For this to happen, the state has announced that it will participate in the acquisition of a stake in First Investment Bank in order to overcome the latest challenge on the road to the banking union.
