As of today the price of electricity for household consumption in Bulgaria is going up by an average of 3%.

Instead of the envisaged slight price drop, the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission raised prices because even the smallest companies will be buying electricity on the free market. The price is also going up because Maritsa Iztok 2 thermal power plant has to sell certain amounts of its electric energy on the regulated market.
