Owners and employees of gambling halls have gathered in several cities across the country to protest. They demand the repeal of the prepared amendments to the Law on Gambling, which provide for a minimum capital of BGN 3 million (over EUR 1.5 million) for the issuance of a casino license, and for a gambling hall - BGN 1 million (over EUR 500,000). Another proposal is to have casinos and gambling halls only in five-star hotels. According to the protesters, the planned changes are lobbyist and small and medium-sized gambling halls will be affected.
