On the 44th day of protests in Bulgaria the traditional evening rally is expected to be held downtown Sofia under the motto “Protecting Democracy”. Three major intersections in Sofia remain blocked and public transport is operating with different schedule and routes. The protesters are again demanding the resignation of Premier Boyko  Borissov and of this country’s Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev. They also demand early elections and machine voting. Protesters blocked twice today the building of the Bulgarian National Television demanding the resignation of its Director General Emil Koshlukov. Demonstrators are warning that they may block the building of BNT for the third time today.

A protest is planned in front of the municipal building in Bulgaria’s second largest city Plovdiv. It will be held under the motto “No to Police Arbitrariness in Plovdiv”. Protesters began gathering at 7 pm. Later, they are expected to reach the building of the District Directorate of the Ministry of Interior. Yesterday the protesters set up a camp in front of the International Fair, but early on Friday the blockade was removed by the law enforcement authorities, BNR-Povdiv reported.

Another car rally is expected to take place in the city of Ruse.
