At a meeting with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior and the heads of the State Agency for National Security and the Sofia Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev called on these institutions to work in closer cooperation to guarantee security of citizens during protests.
The protests in Bulgaria and abroad and the escalation of tension on September 2 put the actions of the security services at the centre of public attention.
“Society is waiting for answers to the questions why the health and lives of police officers and citizens were put at risk by provocateurs and is there any information who these people are? Why the law enforcement authorities used brutal violence against citizens, the vast majority of whom have nothing to do with the provocateurs?”, President Radev pointed out.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior Ivaylo Ivanov said at the meeting that the Police actions were planned perfectly. “I think that during the days of protest rallies in Bulgaria the police officers clearly showed with their actions that they do not takes sides”, Ivaylo Ivanov said further.
