Bulgaria loses over 50,000 people annually because of emigration and mortality

The National Statistical Institute - NSI expects the results of the upcoming census to show that Bulgarians decline by about 50,000-60,000 per year.

The new census starts on January 22, 2021. What current statistics show is that Bulgaria loses more than 50,000 people a year because of migration or death, but the trend is stable, Diana Yancheva, Deputy Chairman of the NSI, has told BNT.

Compared to the experience from the previous census in 2010, the NSI expects nearly 70% of the population to take advantage of the possibility of electronic participation.
