2/3 of Bulgarians do not approve of restrictive measures against coronavirus epidemic

32% of Bulgarians approve of the measures against Covid-19 taken by the government, and 64% disapprove. The figures come from the European Parliament's third sociological survey on the Covid-19 crisis this year.
Bulgaria is among the five EU member states in which more than half of the respondents indicate that the coronavirus crisis has already affected their personal incomes. The other countries are Cyprus, Greece, Spain and Romania.
The data show that young people under the age of 34 and families with children are more affected.

Bulgaria reports 3,899 new cases of Covid-19, 119 new deaths

Bulgaria has registered a total of 3,899 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours. 37.8% of the 10,311 PCR tests performed returned positive.
The highest number of new infections is in Sofia - 977, followed by Plovdiv - with 360, Varna - with 255, and Burgas - with 241 new cases, National Coronavirus Information Portal data show.
119 people died in the last 24 hours. 847 people recovered. There are currently 5,878 patients with coronavirus infection in hospital, of whom 344 are in intensive care units. The active cases in the country at the moment are 78,459.

US Embassy Sofia and America for Bulgaria Foundation launch Healing Together campaign

US Embassy Sofia and America for Bulgaria Foundation launched a campaign against the spread of Covid-19 named “Healing Together”. This campaign will support hospitals, medical centers and medical workers. US Embassy Sofia and America for Bulgaria Foundation will work together with Bulgarian institutions and NGOs to assist the areas of need across the country. “In the next few months we will provide an additional assistance to the tune of USD 1 million for medical consumables and services in the fight against Covid-19”, the US Ambassador to Bulgaria Herro Mustafa said.

BSP files lawsuit over participation of quarantined MPs in parliamentary sessions

MPs from the Bulgarian Socialist Party for Bulgaria parliamentary group have filed a complaint with the Constitutional Court, demanding that the court declare unconstitutional the rules adopted by parliament for the participation in parliamentary meetings of MPs quarantined due to a coronavirus infection. This was announced at a briefing in Parliament by MP Yavor Bojankov. "This act of the governing party reduces the role of MPs to a complete formality. Practice shows that "virtual" MPs do not take part in debates, but only provide the necessary quorum. In addition, virtual participation in parliamentary sittings applies only to MPs suffering from Covid-19. If a colleague is ill with something else, they do not have the same rights, " Bozhankov commented.
