On December 31, Bulgaria will start receiving natural gas from Azerbaijan, the press service of the cabinet has announced. Under an agreement between Bulgargaz and Azerbaijani company SOCAR, 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas will be delivered annually from the Shah Deniz 2 field. Initially, the gas will pass through the "Kulata" entry point. After the completion of the gas pipeline through Komotini, the entry point will change, BTA reported.
"On January 1, 2021, we will welcome the Azerbaijani gas deliveries that so many generations of politicians have talked about. The government of the United Patriots and GERB has been working well and has provided this opportunity for full diversification," Prime Minister Borissov said at the government meeting.
