The Bulgarian embassy in the UK is assisting dozens of Bulgarian citizens blocked near Dover and waiting to reach continental Europe, the Foreign Ministry press service has announced.

Due to the restrictions put in place to contain the spread of the new Covid-19 strain, all transport links with continental Europe are currently blocked. Nevertheless Bulgarian nationals travelling in utility and passenger vehicles, as well as citizens of other countries, are still waiting in the vicinity of the port of Dover for the ferry lines to reopen.

The head of the consular section in London Nikolay Vanchev is in Dover where he is meeting with the Bulgarian nationals scattered at various parking lots. Earlier in the day representatives of the blocked transport workers also met with ambassador Marin Raykov.
