Easing of measures in Bulgaria depends on Covid-19 data collected in the past week

Next week, Bulgaria’s government will decide whether to ease the restrictive anti-epidemic measures, or extend them beyond January 31. In an interview for BNR, this country’s Chief State Health Inspector Associate Professor Angel Kunchev, who is a member of the National Operational Headquarters, clarified that the decision would depend on the information collected during the past working week, in which children returned to kindergartens and students from 1st to 4th grade returned to school. A balance between the risk and the social activities must be found, Angel Kunchev said.

Bulgaria reports 394 new cases of Covid-19 out of 5,910 tests performed

394 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Bulgaria in the past 24 hours out of 5,910 tests performed, data of the Single Coronavirus Information Portal show. Under 7% of the tests have returned positive. 12 medics have been diagnosed with the coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. 4,190 patients are being treated in hospital, 380 of whom in intensive care units. 524 people have recovered and 19 patients have died in the past 24 hours. The highest number of infections has been registered in Sofia-89, followed by Burgas-55 and Varna-30. 118 people have been vaccinated in the past 24 hours. The total number of Bulgarians inoculated against Covid-19 reached 13,473.

Sapareva Banya has all chances to become year-round tourism destination

According to Minister Nikolova, the town of Sapareva Banya has the opportunity and the resources to offer various forms of tourism throughout the year. During her visit to Sapareva Banya Municipality Minister Nikolova, together with Mayor Kalin Gelev, randomly inspected a hotel in the spa resort to see if the anti-epidemic measures were observed.

Covid-19 pandemic significantly impacts car sales in Bulgaria

In 2020, sales of new cars in Bulgaria fell by nearly 37%, data of this country’s Traffic Police show. Sales of second-hand cars have shrunk by nearly 18 percent. Car importers commented that this was due to the fear of coronavirus and, above all, the risk of income loss. The coronavirus pandemic has also affected negatively industries that buy new cars such as restaurants, tourism and transport services.
