The selection of candidates for the position of European delegated prosecutor will take place between February 10 and 13, announced Bulgaria’s Supreme Judicial Council. The Prosecutors’ College will hear 35 magistrates in alphabetical order.

According to the regulation establishing the EU Public Prosecutor's Office, the applicants must be acting magistrates, their independence shall be beyond doubt and they must have good command of English. The magistrates will have 10 minutes to present their motives and answer questions. Initially, Bulgaria was entitled to two European delegated prosecutors, but due to the expected large volume of work, this country will send 10 delegated prosecutors to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office headed by Romanian Laura Kövesi.
