Nine days before the parliamentary elections the MPs from the 44th National Assembly held their last sitting, ending their four year tenure. 194 MPs were registered in the plenary hall.
Declarations were read out by the parliamentary groups of GERB, the Bulgarian Socialist Party, the “United patriots”, Volya Party and by independent members of parliament. The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) did not make any declaration.
GERB called for a higher degree of consensus and stated they were ready to extend a hand for national unity after the elections with the motive that no party is capable of governing the country by itself.
The Bulgarian Socialist Party described the 44th National Assembly as a parliament bending to the will of the prime minister, amending the law on health establishments and the social insurance code multiple times, and described the legislation as lobbyist.
The “United patriots” stated they had provided equilibrium inn parliament but added that during the four years of its term this National Assembly had been in permanent crisis and in a state of free fall.
Volya party stated that they are leaving parliament without having submitted a single lobbyist bill, and without any appointments for government office.
National Assembly President Tsveta Karayancheva declared the sitting of the National Assembly at an end and thanked the thousands of volunteers involved in the election process.
