7 parties with chance to enter parliament, 2 political formations competing for third place

Seven parties would enter the new parliament if the elections were held today, according to a Gallup International poll, commissioned by the Bulgarian National Radio.

The poll has shown the following:

28.2% would vote for GERB and UDF and 20.8% for BSP for Bulgaria. These are the two leading political formations.

"There Are Such People" and MRF enjoy almost equal support with 12.9% and 12.7% of possible future votes, respectively. Sociologists report that at this stage it is virtually impossible to determine which of the two parties would end up in third place.

"Democratic Bulgaria" with 6.1%, the formation "Stand Up! Thugs out!” with 5.2% and VMRO with 4.4% are close to each other and not far from the threshold for entering parliament. The prospects of these formations depend entirely on the last days of the campaign and even the last hours of the elections, as well as on the size and the degree of "firmness" of the electorates.

According to analysts, the last days and hours may change the distribution of forces. For example, the Volya-NFSB coalition, which currently receives the support of 3% of voters, will hope for predictable vote and overcoming the barrier.

When it comes to voter turnout, the survey shows a fairly wide range of probabilities - between 2.6 and 2.9 million people will go to the polls.

However, making such forecasts is difficult and surprises are possible. A minimal share of voters are expected to mark the "I do not support anyone" option.

The big question is what kind of order the Bulgarian people would give to their political elite - an order for predictability or change, an order for forming a government or one for holding new elections, the Executive Director of Gallup Parvan Simeonov said in an interview with BNR.

According to him, the post-election campaign would be more interesting than the pre-election one, which ends today.

The poll, conducted for the Bulgarian National Radio in the period March 24-31, involved 1,013 adult Bulgarians and shows the structure of electoral attitudes.
