In the early 20th century Dobri Hristov, Bulgarian composer and conductor, co-founder and conductor of the Rodna Pesen choral society in Sofia, created "Rodna pesen nas navek ni svarzva” (The native song binds us strongly for eternity”) - the anthem of Bulgarian folk choirs, which for more than a century has been the symbol of choral art in Bulgaria. The Bulgarian songs well as the care for boosting the interest in choral music among the teenagers are the basis of the "Children's Choir of Bulgaria" - a project of the Bulgarian Choir Union led by Slavil Dimitrov - choir and orchestra conductor.

In the course of three days now, more than 300 children and teenagers, representing ten choirs from all over the country, have been rehearsing hard for their concert in Hall 1 of Sofia’s National Palace of Culture on July 3. The accompaniment is entrusted to the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra "Sofia" at the Lyubomir Pipkov National School of Music. The aim of the project is to motivate the young choristers, to unite them around the idea of developing and popularizing the Bulgarian choral art. The efforts of the Bulgarian Choir Union and all those involved in the Children's Choir of Bulgaria are supported by the National Culture Fund under the patronage of President Rumen Radev.

The preparation and performance of the concert on July 3 includes two choirs from Sofia ("Bodra smyana" and the Youth Choir at the National Music School), two choirs from Ruse ("St. George the Victorious" and "Danube Waves"), also choirs from Burgas, Haskovo, Plovdiv, Shumen and Svilengrad.

Special guests in the program are the singers Orlin Goranov, Edelina Kaneva, Mila Mihova, Mihail Mihailov, and the songs that will sound under the baton of Slavil Dimitrov are popular and loved by generations of Bulgarians - "Where is Bulgaria", "I love you, Motherland", "You are beautiful, my homeland", "Rainbow", "My Childhood", and others.
