Five organ transplant patients given second chance to live

Five people were given a chance to live after being transplanted. The donor is a 15-year old boy from Plovdiv who has been declared brain-dead. Two successful kidney transplants were performed at Aleksandrovska Hospital in Sofia, the recipients are men aged 46 and 56. A 44-year old patient was given a kidney at the Military Medical Academy. The lungs and the heart of the donor have been given over to Eurotransplant. The organs were explanted at the St. George Hospital in Plovdiv by a German medical team from Munich and Berlin.
