10 EU countries, Bulgaria included, seek green financing for nuclear energy in EU

France, Bulgaria and another eight EU countries have launched a joint initiative in support of nuclear energy, world media report.

It is “absolutely essential that nuclear energy be included in the framework of European taxonomy before the end of this year,” since it “protects European consumers from price volatility”, the 10 countries state in an op-ed published in different European media outlets. The statement is signed by cabinet ministers from the 10 countries. Besides France and Bulgaria, the statement has been signed also by representatives of Romania, Czechia, Finland, Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia, Poland and Hungary.

The European Commission has not yet decided whether nuclear energy and natural gas should be included in the framework of EU taxonomy qualifying as a green EU investment.
