Environmentalists: Bulgaria is not relying sufficiently on renewable sources

This country can fully meet its needs of electric energy by means of renewable sources, say environmental organizations, BNR’s Antonia Ilieva reports. According to the environmentalists, by investing in gas infrastructure we risk our energy independence.

“Because of the country’s potential dependence on Russian gas, Russia could take advantage of possible energy crises, and Bulgaria could find itself in a situation similar to that of Ukraine in 2009, when the stream of Russian gas was cut off," said Rory Forster from the For the Earth NGO.
