First edition of Salted Fish Festival takes place in Bulgaria's Sozopol

Photo: BNR

A festival of salted fish? It may sound strange, but its first edition will take place on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast.

Those who want to attend the festival must visit the coastal town of Sozopol one day before Saint Nichola’s Day (Nikulden), celebrated by anglers and seamen. The festival of salted fish also has a noble cause - to support fishers from Sozopol and the surrounding area. That is why the focus will be on the freshly caught fish.

A competition for skillfully prepared salted fish will be also part of the festive events.

The festival of salted fish will be held under strict observance of the anti-epidemic measures introduced on the territory of Bulgaria.
