Bulgaria’s Consumer Protection Commission has banned mobile operators from raising telecom services prices. The decision comes after mobile operators announced they would raise mobile services prices under existing contracts. According to the Commission this is an instance of unfair commercial practices which has to be stopped.

After a meeting with consumer organizations, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Korneliya Ninova warned: “If they raise prices we shall apply all mechanisms and methods within the bounds of the law not to permit this.” She added that consumer protection will be a priority for the ministry.
