Educational mediators are working for the future of Bulgarian children. They are one of the main pillars of education, Bulgaria’s Minister of Education and Science Academician Nikolay Denkov said. He congratulated the educational mediators of Roma origin on the occasion of their holiday "Vasilitsa".
The mediators received awards for their dedicated work. Minister Denkov presented the grand prize "Educational Mediator of the Year" to Nikolay Ognyanov from the town of Gulyantsi, Pleven district. Mira Stefanova from the village of Pobeda, Dobrich district, received the "Empowerment of the Roma Woman" award. Fatme Arslan from Bulgaria’s second-largest city Plovdiv received a special award for charity and advocacy. Tihomir Georgiev from the town of Krivodol (Northwestern Bulgaria) received the award for field work and dialogue. Georgi Shabanov from Shumen got the “Young Awakener and Inspirer” award.
