Bulgaria’s Stanimir Belomazhev won a silver medal at the European Ski Orienteering Championship which continues near Chepelare. Belomazhev came second in the long distance (30 km), just 20 seconds behind Jorgen Baklid, Norway. The bronze went to Andrey Lamov of Russia.

“It was a very hard race, we usually cover the distance in around 90 minutes, this time it took 120. At temperatures of 12°C. below zero and snow, I am happy to have reached the medals. This medal is very important to me, but it is also important for Bulgarian orienteering, which proved, once again, that it is capable of European and world successes,” Belomazhev said minutes after the end of the race.
