The Grand Prize of the 26th Golden Rhyton Festival for a documentary film went to "Avantyurista" by director Anna Petkova. The latest film by Petkova, who passed away in early 2022, traces the fate of dissident Grigor Simov, the founder of the Society for the Protection of Human Rights, who lives in a depopulated village near the Bulgarian-Serbian border.
Svilen Dimitrov's film "Shell in Love" received the award for animation. A total of 24 films participated in the competition program. The festival was held in Sofia, which is an exception as it is usually held in the city of Plovdiv.
The director’s prize went to Stefan Komandarev for "Life from Life", focusing on organ donation.
