Councilors and entrepreneurs from Dupnitsa stated their readiness to receive and accommodate refugee families from Ukraine. On social media a local real estate broker urged the people from the town to put up refugees from Ukraine. He promises to compile lists of real estate provided by their owners plus the conditions under which the property is being provided for the needs of temporary accommodation, and to help organize the process.

“Nobody should live with the horror of war… Especially innocent children. It makes no matter what nationality they are. I believe we shall reopen our hearts and our homes and demonstrate our empathy,” the broker said. Municipal councilors responded to his call and announced how and where they can put up the people fleeing from Ukraine.

All hotels in Velingrad have stated they are ready to receive Bulgarian evacuees from Ukraine. They will also be offered a job, provided conditions and the Bulgarian legislation allow it.

In Varna 10 hotel operators have also said they are ready to accommodate arrivals from Ukraine. 2,000 can be put up at facilities in the cities and in the resorts in the area. However, it is as yet not clear how they will be provided with food, who will cover the utility costs. The new regional coordination headquarters in Varna will be convened on Monday. It includes representatives of the municipality, the police, the health inspectorate and other institutions.

Many more people are expected to arrive in Varna in the coming days and they will need accommodation and assistance. What the organization will be for persons arriving in their private vehicles will be made clear on Monday. For now, most of the people arriving from Ukraine have stated they have a place to stay.
