Natural gas price jumps 13% and continues to pump inflation up

Photo: library

In April, the price of natural gas will rise by about 13% instead of the 58% previously requested by Bulgargaz, according to estimates by the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission. The final rise will become clear on April 1.

In February 2022, production prices in Bulgaria increased by 1% compared to a month earlier and grew by 32.3% on an annual basis. The rise is due to a significant jump in energy prices by 82% compared to a year earlier, the National Statistical Institute said. The continuing rise in prices implies a further acceleration of consumer inflation in the coming months, the institute forecasts.
