In the first quarter of this year, 10 people have died in accidents at work, as there were a total of 600 workplace accidents in Bulgaria. This is shown by data from the National Social Security Institute.

The data was presented by the largest Bulgarian trade union CITUB at the marking of the Workers' Memorial Day, an international day of remembrance for workers killed, disabled, or injured by their work

Last year, nearly 2,400 accidents at work killed 68 people in Bulgaria. Traditionally, the sectors with the highest number of workplace accidents are construction, transportation and trade, said CITUB chairman Plamen Dimitrov.

"Every five days a Bulgarian worker dies at work," he added.
