“The money for the hotel operators who have put up Ukrainian refugees at their hotels is going to be paid out today,” outgoing Prime Minister Kiril Petkov stated. For the purpose, the sum of 80 BGN million (a little over EUR 40 million) of European funding is to be allocated. Hotel keepers are saying they have not been paid the state aid they are due for April and May, or the money under the new programme for June.

Before the start of the cabinet sitting today, Kiril Petkov also commented his unannounced inspection of Brikel thermal power plant last night. “What we ascertained was really shocking. We have 15 times higher sulfur dioxide levels than the norm, and 27 times more particulate matter. I cannot believe there are Bulgarian citizens working under these conditions,” Kiril Petkov exclaimed.
