The world-renowned Bulgarian sculptor Pavel Koychev gave new life to his sculptural composition "Water Pasture" by placing it in the lake of the South Park in the capital. "The idea of the work is connected with the Bible. We all need a shepherd, a Christ figure, because man is weak, uncertain. The surrounding trees are reflected in the lake, and this is how grazing is meaningful," the author explains his idea.
The work is emblematic of Pavel Koychev, who presented "Water Pasture" for the first time in 2009 in the lake near the village of Osikovitsa near Pravets. The composition "lived" there for a decade.
The six figures - a shepherd and sheep, which now delight visitors of the South Park in Sofia, are made of brass and weigh a total of 2,165 tonnes. The main figure - the shepherd, rises to a height of 4 meters above the water.
