Bulgaria will insist on renegotiating the terms of the contract for the supply of Covid-19 vaccines for 2022 and 2023, caretaker Minister of Health Asen Medjidiev said at the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council in Brussels.
The possible solutions to the contract between the European Commission and Pfizer are connected to its termination or a significant reduction of the vaccine quantities, Minister Medjidiev said at a meeting with the European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, Stella Kyriakidou. According to Dr. Medjidiev, if the terms are not renegotiated, the vaccines that will be delivered in the future will be subject to disposal as soon as they arrive in Bulgaria. The European Commission should also consider the possibility of repurchasing the Covid-19 vaccines, Bulgaria’s Minister of Health further pointed out.
