The National Assembly must adopt 3 laws in order for Bulgaria to enter the Eurozone in 2024, caretaker Deputy Premier for EU Funds Management Atanas Pekanov said for the BNT. There are two main criteria for eurozone accession - inflation and legal framework, Atanas Pekanov explained. In his words, inflation is currently decreasing and is expected to be contained.

As for the legal framework, the caretaker cabinet has prepared 3 laws that have to be voted by the country’s Parliament- amendments to the Insurance Code, the independence of the Bulgarian National Bank and improving measures to combat money laundering. Deputy Premier Pekanov also reminded that Bulgaria’s Parliament has adopted only one of the 22 laws under the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
