With 9 votes "yes", the foreign policy committee in the Bulgarian parliament declared the famine in Ukraine in 1932-1933, known as Holodomor, a genocide and condemned its perpetrators.

The famine in Ukraine is one of the worst mass crimes committed by the Soviet communist regime, the decision of the Bulgarian MPs in the committee reads. Over 8 million people lost their lives during the Holodomor, among them many children and tens of thousands of Ukrainian and Moldavian Bulgarians. BSP and Vazrazhdane MPs voted against the decision, which is to be voted on in plenary hall.
