"Unfortunately, the warmongers in Parliament voted in favor of sending military aid to Ukraine by an overwhelming majority. Thus, they obliged the caretaker government to conclude a contract with Ukraine for such aid", Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev said with regard to his decision to issue a decree on sending weapons to Ukraine.

President Radev said that it is pointless to veto the law on providing military aid to Ukraine and added that seizing the Constitutional Court will come to nothing. "According to the legal framework, a veto cannot change texts of a concluded international treaty. It is impossible to seize the Constitutional Court after a ratification of an international treaty", Bulgaria’s head of state explained. He called on the institutions and the political parties to strictly adhere to the law in the current fragile political situation.

In Rumen Radev’s words, the Ministry of Defense has made an analysis on what can what cannot be provided to Ukraine and added that “Bulgaria will not provide Ukraine with aircraft, anti-aircraft missile complexes or tanks, which could affect its combat capabilities."
