The leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party Kornelia Ninova returned the unfulfilled third and final government-forming mandate.

"First I will consult the Central Election Commission and then decide on the dissolution of the 48th National Assembly and on the date of elections, President Rumen Radev said.

Kornelia Ninova said she expected a difficult election campaign because of the political apathy and voter fatigue. "We will wait for the elections before deciding which parties to partner with. BSP is a firm supporter of the parliamentary republic", Kornelia Ninova said with regard to the national referendum petition for presidential republic.
