Syrian community in Bulgaria is collecting aid at Syrian embassy in Sofia

The Syrian community in Bulgaria is collecting aid at the Syrian embassy in Sofia.  "We are collecting aid in the hope that the Bulgarian government will at some point allow a plane to fly directly to Syria. Otherwise, there is no way the aid will reach. The northern part of Syria is not under the control of the government there, and there is no way for trucks or buses to enter, but by plane they will land at the airports in Syria without any problem," Mohamed Ibrahim, chairman of the Association of Syrians in Bulgaria, told BNR.

"The entire northern border of Syria with Turkey is not under the control of the Syrian government. 80% of the country is under the control of the government. The planes land where the government controls", he added.

"There are a lot of populist statements at the UN, but if they wanted to help, they should have sent aid to both Syria and Turkey at the very first moment of this humanitarian catastrophe. In Syria, the airports are working, planes are landing, they haven't stopped", Ihrahim stated.

He pointed to India, Pakistan, Jordan, Algeria, Iraq, Egypt, Russia, Belarus, Libya and several other countries that sent aid planes that landed within one kilometer of the quake-hit areas in Syria.
