The institutions in the Republic of North Macedonia need to prove with results that they are trully committed to the process of European integration, Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev said at a meeting in Brussels with the President of France Emmanuel Macron. "Yet another anti-Bulgarian campaign in the Republic of North Macedonia, which led to a number of hate crimes - arson, firing at Bulgarian cultural clubs and violence against Bulgarians in the Republic of North Macedonia, raises questions about the responsibility of the institutions in the country", President Radev noted.
Bulgaria’s head of state reminded that both Bulgaria and North Macedonia have accepted the negotiating framework proposed during the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and the inclusion of Bulgarians in North Macedonia‘s constitution as a mandatory step before the start of the negotiation process. "We are witnessing a lack of political will for reform. Instead, yet another anti-Bulgarian campaign is being waged in the country," Rumen Radev said.
The two presidents emphasized the good partnership between Bulgaria and France in the energy sector and the prospects for its development.
