A total of 90% of Ukrainians in Bulgaria are from the eastern regions of Ukraine that have suffered the biggest destruction, BTA reported. Therefore, their return there is impossible and every country that has accepted Ukrainian refugees on its territory must make efforts for their integration, UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) representative to Bulgaria, Seda Kuzucu, has told the agency.

UNHCR has allocated 19.4 million US dollars for improving the situation of Ukrainians in Bulgaria and a large part of the funds will be used for provision of legal assistance, registration of documents, etc. Experts will work for their integration and employment, which will strengthen the independence of the refugees from Ukraine in Bulgaria. There will be joint work with 600 entities from the private sector, trade unions, financial and academic institutions in order to promote, facilitate and coordinate the integration of refugees.
