The Sofia municipal council has definitively voted for removing the Monument to the Soviet Army from the centre of Sofia, and for a call for proposals for the space vacated.
The discussions went on for more than two hours. 41 councilors voted in favour, 14 against and 1 abstained. During the voting a protest took place in front of Sofia municipality building against the removal of the monument.
